How do I become Microsoft Qualified? 
It depends on which career path you wish to pursue.
The most popular certification paths are related to desktop support and server management.
Desktop Administration
Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) Enterprise Desktop Administrator is the most popular certification for Microsoft Windows 7 support. TechRepublic lists MCITP Enterprise Desktop Administrator in its top ten best IT certifications of 2010.
You must pass exam 70-680 TS: Windows 7, Configuring first. Passing this exam will provide you with the Microsoft Certified Technical Specialist (MCTS) Windows 7, Configuring qualification. Microsoft Official Curriculum course 6292 would prepare you for this exam.
You then need to pass exam 70-686 Pro: Windows 7, Enterprise Desktop Administrator to achieve the MCITP Enterprise Desktop Administrator qualification. Microsoft Official Curriculum course 6294 would prepare you for this exam.
Server Management
The most popular certification for managing Windows Server 2008 machines is MCITP Server Administrator. Again, TechRepublic lists MCITP Server Administrator in its top ten best IT certifications of 2010.
You must first pass exams 70-640 TS: Windows Server 2008 Active Directory, Configuring and 70-642 TS: Windows Server 2008 Network Infrastructure, Configuring. Passing these exams will provide you with the MCTS Windows Server 2008 Active Directory, Configuring and MCTS Windows Server 2008 Network Infrastructure, Configuring qualifications. Microsoft Official Curriculum course 6421 will prepare you for exam 70-642 and courses 6425 and 6426 will prepare you exam 70-640. If you have very little Windows Server experience it is recommended you complete course 6420 first.
You then need to pass exam 70-646 Pro: Windows Server 2008, Server Administrator to achieve the MCITP Server Administrator qualification. Microsoft Official Curriculum course 6430 will prepare you for this exam.
Other Microsoft Certifications
There are other Microsoft certifications available related to technologies such as Exchange, Project Server, SQL Server and Hyper-V virtualization. Please inquire for details.
Taking the Examinations
In order to take the Microsoft examinations, you need to register for your exam by telephone or online with Prometric. Examination vouchers are available from Michael Schonborn. You can take your examination at any testing centre that offers Prometric tests. If you wish to take advantage of our vouchers then you will have to use the testing centre at Leeds City College's Cookridge Street campus.
